Destination: The Gettysburg Battlefield & the Shenandoah National Park

Thursday - Day 5

From Princeton, WV we took US-460 west to SR-123 west and rode it over to US-52 northwest.  We followed US-52 north to Fort Gay, WV (SR-37 west) and then picked up Kentucky SR-32 at Louisa, KY just across the small river.  We ran SR-32 to Morehead, KY and hit SR-11 north to Maysville, KY.  Since it got dark on us we just jumped up US-62 northeast and ran it to Hillsboro, OH.  We have had some close calls with deer crossings on this trip, specially after dark, so we opted to skip the more remote twisty wooded roadways.  The final leg from Hillsboro to Greenfield was on SR-138 arriving around 9:30 pm.  Total: 356 miles.

This finishes up our 5 day trip.  Total miles for the five days was 1,396.  My 2001 Suzuki Volusia 800 used approx. 28 gallons of gas ($83.51) during the trip.

About 20 miles out of Princeton, WV we stopped at a scenic park area.

Pinnacle Rock formation.

View from the overlook near the top of the rock formation.

Dave talked me into climbing the steps to get to the overlook near the top of the formation.

Not crowded on a workday.
